What are Kettlebells?

Kettlebells have been around for over one hundred years, but have only started becoming popular in the United States quite recently.

I have worked out all my life, tried many different methods of training from Weights, Yoga, Pilates, Cardio, Dance, Combat Conditioning – name it I have tried it. So when I first heard about Kettlebells I was rather skeptical, I mean, it is just another weight right? Why bother with kettlebells if I already have dumbells?

For example: I travel a lot, always on and of planes. I use to really struggle to get my carry on luggage – that is usually stacked with books, my computer, some external hard drives and other quite heavy items – in the overhead compartment. Well, since I started Kettlebell training it is a breeze for me, not only because I feel stronger, but I have learned how to master efficiency of motion and how to use my legs as leverage together with momentum. So now getting that suitcase in the overhead compartment on the plane is a breeze.

A Workout like none other

We travel all the time and on one of our tours we were traveling with a good friend who is a celebrity… can’t mention names but I can tell you that he is a very well known television actor and comedian. He was telling us how he is in great shape, he lifts weights and he runs 50 miles every week… he works out all the time. So we invited him to join us for a kettlebell workout.

My husband suggested that he starts with my kettlebell that was a 20 pounder at the time, but no – he was adamant that he would be able to work out with Garin’s 35-pound Kettlebell. So off to the gym we went.
